Chu Jiquan (1954), male, researcher-level senior arts and crafts artist, master of Chinese ceramic art, master of arts and crafts in Jiangsu Province, part-time professor of Wuxi Institute of Technology, art consultant of Yixing Zisha Art Research Institute.
In September 1954, he was born in a famous family in Yixing, Jiangsu, and his ancestor was Nanqiang.
In 1972, he entered the Yixing Zisha Craft Factory and learned from two famous teachers, Gao Lijun and Fan Hongquan.
In 1984, the work "Pomegranate Lifting Beam" won the second prize in the competition of four new products in Jiangsu Province.
In 1989, he graduated from the professional class of ceramic modeling at the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts.
In 1993, his work "Four Gentlemen Pots" won the second prize of Jiangsu Province Four New Products and Provincial Traditional Crafts Excellence Award.
In 1994, he was hired by Yixing Ceramics Museum as the director of Zisha Art Research Institute.
In 1998, his work "Distant Story" won the Gold Award of China International Folk Art Fair.
In 1999, his work "Smelting Fragrance and Green Clouds" won the Gold Award at the China Folk Art Festival.
In addition, "Pantao" was collected by the Nanjing Museum in China.
In 2003, his work "Listening to Zen" won the Silver Award at the Beijing National Ceramic Art Exhibition;
In 2004, he was rated as "Twelve Elites of Zisha in China" by the industry.
In 2005, the work "Orchid" of the Four Gentlemen series was selected into the collection of Ziguang Pavilion in Zhongnanhai; the work "Autumn Moon in Han Palace" won the Silver Award of China Wuxi Taihu Expo.
In 2007, his work "Chaos Begins" won the gold medal of the first Oriental Arts and Crafts City Expo.
In December, he was named a researcher-level senior arts and crafts artist.
Since Chu Jiquan started his career in art, he has created and designed nearly 100 works, among which plum, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum are representative works.
Since 1997, he has gradually formed a new style of purple sand flower decoration by combining mud painting, inlaying, embossing, pasting and other techniques on the basis of traditional flower and cargo techniques.
His works have won provincial awards for many times, and have been collected by domestic and foreign museums and Ziguang Pavilion in Zhongnanhai in Beijing.
